Women in Gaza: Struggling Amid Destruction

Since October 2023, women in Gaza have endured an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe caused by relentless war. Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed, most of them women and children. Pregnant women face life-threatening conditions, with doctors forced to perform emergency hysterectomies due to the lack of medical supplies, robbing many of them of the chance to become mothers. Moreover, infants suffer from interrupted breastfeeding as mothers, struggling with hunger and trauma, are unable to nurse them. The absence of baby formula due to the blockade further endangers their survival. Despite the devastation, Palestinian women remain steadfast, providing care and support for their families in the face of unimaginable hardship.

A Call to Support Palestinian Women

On this International Women’s Day, global solidarity with Palestinian women must be at the forefront. These women are not just victims but history-makers, tirelessly fighting for dignity, freedom, and a better future for their children. The international community must recognize their struggle and support their rights by providing humanitarian aid, pressuring for an end to the occupation, and advocating for their protection and empowerment on the global stage.
